proxy vs tor for anonymizing attacks/agressive scans ?

what do YOU prefer and why ?? i have all of my vm traffic go thru whonix gateway but sumtimes the tor connection get detected but i personaly tink it is safest i am new to dis field i want to learn more advance techniques i can actually apply real life
