Well said, its same same like learning from books. Books have the information what worked 10 years back. Not the present status of the information. What is working today will be written in books after few years, when returns from the method starting to decline. Then the owner will try to make the money from the dead or almost dead methods by selling it or just to gain rep, give it for free.
You have to use your brain to figure out the loophole in present system and use it to make a method based on your experience and research and then cash out your hard labor.
