Scientists from QuantumCTek use quantum numbers to protect data in the cloud.
The Chinese company QuantumCTek Co, specializing in quantum information technologies, has proposed an innovative approach to ensuring cyber security of data in the cloud. Researchers used quantum random numbers as encryption keys, which increases the level of data protection from quantum computers.
The basis of the method is Shamir's key distribution algorithm, which allows sharing private information between a certain group of people. This information remains secret until most of the group members pool their knowledge.
To increase efficiency and reduce costs, the researchers applied an additional stage of erasure coding within the ciphertext before data transmission using quantum key distribution (QKD) algorithms. This made it possible to ensure not only quantum security, but also to increase resistance to failures.
The vice president of QuantumCTek Co., Yun Zhao, said that their solution provides quantum security and is a practical application of the synthesis of quantum technologies and cryptography. "Keys generated with the help of QKD ensure the security of both uploading user data to servers and transferring data to distributed cloud storage nodes," he added.
The researchers also tested whether their approach could be used not only for data transmission, but also for data storage. They conducted a number of tests, including encryption/decryption, key information storage, and data storage, and confirmed its effectiveness.
This solution is viable from both a technological and an engineering point of view, meets the standards of quantum cryptography and is able to withstand the challenges presented by quantum computing. Taking into account the capabilities of quantum computers to solve tasks orders of magnitude faster than modern computers, the development of cyber security of the new generation is more relevant.
