help credit company wants scans

hey guys i want to know if the credit card companies verify wat info off the scans they ask for do they call them to find if correct?
this company asks for dl front and back and ssn front and back and the utility bill .. once they get this do they look at it and say yes its real or do they go to further extent to verify >>???
