offine pos vx520 setup needed

hello,
i got the rs232 db9 cable.
i got vx520 used.
and i have the software for setup on it.
the thing is the pos is used, there is already OS on it and merchant, i saw before people buying tampered one with " download needed" but in my case it was used in a store before, what shall i do? do i need to wipe the OS from it? if so how?
what are the procedures i need to make, i hope someone can help me.
