Gift cards from accounts recovered by email?

I have an access to an email and there is a few shops with valuable gift cards but I can't pay with a linked card because the shop wants me to reenter the card number or cvv. Will it work if I pay with another credit card? Does it have any difference from buying gift cards from a new account?
