Utopia was also promoted on all the platforms and by enthusiasts in different niches. There are lots of youtube videos, blog posts, press releases, etc. It just depends on you. Like which news do you read on which topics and on which portals.

They just wanted to create an independent ecosystem, free from indexing or control from giants like Google or Facebook. I think they made the project free because they don't need money.
